Effective September 14, 2026
A plain-English summary for orientation only. It is not part of the agreement — the numbered sections below are what govern.
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are a binding agreement between LazShift ("LazShift", "we", "us") and the business that opens an account ("Customer", "you"). They also govern use of LazShift by every person that business invites.
Our Privacy Policy describes how we handle personal information and forms part of these Terms.
Sections 15 and 16 limit our liability, and section 18 governs how disputes are resolved. Please read them.
You agree to these Terms by checking the acceptance box at signup, or by accessing or using the Service. We record the date your account accepted them. If you do not agree, do not use LazShift.
If you accept on behalf of a business, you represent that you are authorised to bind that business, and "you" means that business. Every Authorized User also agrees to these Terms when they use the Service, and the Customer remains responsible for their use of it.
If we have signed a separate written agreement with you, that agreement controls to the extent it conflicts with these Terms.
LazShift lets a business build and publish employee schedules, manage availability, time-off and shift-swap requests, notify staff of changes, estimate labour cost, and produce printable schedules and reports. We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service during your Subscription Term, for your own internal business purposes, subject to these Terms.
We improve LazShift continuously and may add, change, or remove functionality. If we discontinue functionality you materially rely on, we will give Administrators reasonable advance notice by email or in the app where practical.
We aim to keep the Service available and to schedule disruptive maintenance outside typical scheduling hours, but we do not offer a service-level guarantee. The Service depends on infrastructure we do not control, and it may be unavailable during maintenance, outages, or events described in section 20.
Features labelled beta, preview, or experimental are provided for evaluation, may change or disappear without notice, and are excluded from any commitment in these Terms.
You must provide accurate account information and keep it current. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
An Administrator controls the account. They can invite and remove users, set roles and permissions, view and edit any Customer Data on the account — including employee profiles, contact details, and pay rates — export it, set a team member's sign-in email or password, and permanently delete employee records. When an Administrator changes the sign-in details of someone who has used their account, we email that person at their previous address. You choose who holds that access and you are responsible for that choice. Where an Authorized User and the Customer disagree about Customer Data, we act on the Customer's instructions.
You represent and warrant that:
Keep login credentials confidential, do not share accounts between people, and tell us promptly at support@lazshift.com if you suspect unauthorised access. On a computer other people use, choose "This is a shared computer" when signing in, which ends the session when the browser closes or after 30 minutes without activity. We may require a password reset if we believe an account is compromised.
The Service is a workplace tool and is not directed to children. Whether a person is old enough to work for you, and on what terms, is a matter of the employment law that applies to you, and we do not set a separate minimum. If you add a minor, you are responsible for employing them lawfully and for obtaining any parental or guardian consent the law requires — including before sending them text messages. The limits the Service can suggest for a minor's hours are a starting point, not a statement of the law (section 9). The Service is not directed to children under 13.
You will not, and will not permit anyone else to:
Suspected security vulnerabilities are welcome — please report them to support@lazshift.com rather than testing them against live customer accounts.
New accounts receive a 14-day free trial with no card required. At the end of the trial, continued use requires an active paid subscription. We may change or withdraw trial eligibility for future accounts.
LazShift is billed monthly at the price of your plan, shown when you subscribe. A plan may combine a fixed monthly fee with a charge for each active employee; an active employee is each active user profile on your account, including Administrators. Adding or deactivating people during a billing period adjusts your quantity, and your next invoice is prorated for the change.
If a trial ends without a subscription, or a subscription is canceled or ends unpaid, the account locks. While it is locked nothing in it can be changed, Authorized Users without manager permissions see a notice instead of the schedule, and Administrators can reach the billing page, where they can subscribe or download all of the account's data. Locking deletes nothing, and subscribing unlocks the account as it was. Section 14 covers ending the relationship altogether.
Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing you authorise us and Stripe to charge your payment method on a recurring basis for all fees and applicable taxes. Fees are exclusive of sales, use, and similar taxes, which you are responsible for. If a payment fails, we may retry it, and we may suspend the account after notice to your Administrator if it remains unpaid.
We may change our prices with at least 30 days' notice to Administrators. A change never applies to a billing period already in progress; it takes effect at your next renewal, and you can cancel before then if you do not accept it.
Cancel at any time in Settings → Billing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current Subscription Term, and you keep access until then. Fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law or where we have expressly agreed otherwise in writing.
As between you and us, you own all Customer Data. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, transmit, display, and process Customer Data solely to provide, secure, and support the Service for you, and as described in our Privacy Policy. This licence exists so that we can run the Service and ends when the data is deleted.
For personal information about your employees, you are the business or controller and we act as your service provider, processing that data on your documented instructions — which are your configuration of, and use of, the Service. We do not sell Customer Data, and we do not use it to train machine-learning models.
We may generate and use aggregated, de-identified statistics about how the Service is used — for example load patterns and feature adoption — to operate and improve it. Such data never identifies you, your business, or any individual, and we will not re-identify it.
Administrators can download all of the account's data — its people, schedules, availability, time off, work rules and settings, as spreadsheet files — from Settings → Billing at any time, including while the account is locked, and can print and export schedules and reports from the app. Administrators can also delete employee records directly. On termination, we retain Customer Data for 30 days so it can be exported or the account reinstated, after which we delete it in the ordinary course, other than backups pending expiry and records we must keep by law. If you need an export before deletion, ask us within that window.
LazShift includes an optional AI scheduling assistant. It is off unless an Administrator enables it, and it runs only when a manager asks for it after an Auto-populate run.
When it runs, we send Anthropic the scheduling facts behind that run: employees' first names and last initials, roles, employment types, hour minimums and caps, marked availability, stated shift and day preferences, dates of approved and pending time off, standing shifts, start and last-work dates, and the coverage figures our own scheduler computed. We do not send pay rates, email addresses, phone numbers, or any other contact information. Anthropic processes it to return the analysis and does not use it to train its models.
The assistant produces suggestions, not decisions or facts. Model output can be incomplete or wrong. Review it before acting on it, and do not use it as the sole basis for any decision about a person's employment, hours, pay, discipline, or continued engagement — those decisions are yours to make, with human judgement, and some jurisdictions regulate automated decision-making in employment.
AI features are rate-limited per account, and we may change, meter, or discontinue them. Nothing in this section makes us responsible for a scheduling, staffing, or employment decision you make.
This section describes the most important limits on what LazShift is. Please read it.
It is not a payroll provider, a timekeeping system of record, a human-resources information system, or a compliance product. We do not provide legal, tax, accounting, or human-resources advice, and nothing in the Service or its output is such advice.
Any pay, wage, or labour-cost figure the Service displays is an arithmetic estimate derived from the rates, hours, and settings you entered. It is not a payroll calculation or a wage statement. It may not account for overtime and double-time rules, shift differentials and premiums, tips, bonuses, reporting-time or split-shift pay, paid breaks, deductions, benefits, or any tax withholding. Actual hours worked and wages owed are determined by your timekeeping and payroll systems, not by LazShift.
Warnings the Service raises — short rest between shifts, overtime thresholds, fair-workweek and predictive-scheduling risks, and similar — are informational aids based on general rules and on the settings you configure. They may not reflect the law of your jurisdiction, may not be current, and may not cover every rule that applies to you. The absence of a warning is not a determination that a schedule is lawful.
You are solely responsible for compliance with all employment and labour law applicable to your workforce, including wage and hour rules, overtime, minimum wage, meal and rest breaks, predictive-scheduling and advance-notice laws, recordkeeping and pay-statement requirements, worker classification, leave entitlements, collective bargaining agreements, and anti-discrimination law. LazShift is not a joint employer, and nothing in these Terms creates an employment relationship between us and your staff.
Do not rely on the Service as your system of record for hours worked or wages paid.
We send transactional messages that are part of the Service — account, security, billing, and administrative notices — and you cannot opt out of those while your account is active.
Schedule notifications by email, browser push, and text message are configurable. Text messaging is off by default and requires both an Administrator to enable it for the account and the individual to opt in. Message and data rates may apply, message frequency varies, and recipients can text STOP to stop or HELP for help. Browser push requires the recipient to grant permission in their browser, and delivery depends on their device and on the push service their browser uses.
You are responsible for obtaining any consent your employees must give before you send them text messages through the Service, and for complying with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and any other law governing those messages. Do not enter a phone number you are not entitled to message.
If an Authorized User enables calendar sync, the Service issues a private feed URL containing an unguessable token. Anyone holding that URL can read that person's published shifts without signing in, so it should be treated like a password; it can be regenerated from the app.
The Service depends on third-party providers, including Supabase (database, authentication, file storage), Vercel (hosting the website and app), Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery), Cloudflare (routing email sent to us), Twilio (text messages), Anthropic (AI features), Google (optional sign-in), and the US National Weather Service (weather forecasts). Our Privacy Policy lists what each one receives.
Your use of a third-party service you connect yourself — a calendar application consuming a feed URL, for example — is governed by that provider's terms, and we are not responsible for it. We are not liable for the acts or omissions of third-party providers beyond our reasonable control, though we remain responsible for our own obligations under these Terms.
We own the Service and everything in it other than Customer Data — the software, interfaces, designs, documentation, and the LazShift name and logo — together with all related intellectual property rights. These Terms grant you a right to use the Service, not any ownership of it, and all rights not expressly granted are reserved.
If you send us feedback, suggestions, or feature requests, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free right to use them without restriction or obligation to you. We will not identify you as the source without your permission.
Each party may receive information of the other that is marked confidential or would reasonably be understood to be confidential — Customer Data on your side, non-public technical and commercial information on ours. Each party will use the other's confidential information only to perform under these Terms, protect it with at least reasonable care, and not disclose it except to personnel and providers bound by comparable obligations. These duties do not apply to information that is public through no fault of the recipient, independently developed, or rightfully received from a third party, and do not prevent a disclosure required by law — provided the recipient gives notice where it is lawfully able to.
You may stop using LazShift and cancel your subscription at any time, as described in section 6.
We may suspend or terminate an account, or specific access to it, if the Customer materially breaches these Terms, fails to pay for an active subscription, or if the account poses a security, legal, or operational risk to LazShift or to other customers. Except where the risk requires immediate action, we will give notice and a reasonable opportunity to cure first. We may also terminate for convenience with 30 days' notice, in which case we will refund any fees you have prepaid for service you will not receive.
On termination, your right to use the Service ends and section 7 governs what happens to Customer Data. Sections 7, 12, 13, and 15 through 21 survive termination, along with any payment obligation already accrued.
These limits do not apply to your obligation to pay fees, to either party's indemnification obligations, to a party's fraud or wilful misconduct, or to any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages, so parts of sections 15 and 16 may not apply to you.
The allocation of risk in these Terms reflects the fees charged, and both sections would survive a finding that a limited remedy failed of its essential purpose.
You will defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from any third-party claim, and any resulting damages, losses, and reasonable legal fees, arising out of or relating to: your Customer Data or our permitted processing of it; your use of the Service in breach of these Terms or of applicable law; any employment, wage and hour, or labour-law claim brought by or on behalf of your workforce; and any claim that you sent messages through the Service without the consent the law required.
We will defend, indemnify, and hold you harmless from any third-party claim that the Service, as provided by us and used in accordance with these Terms, infringes that party's intellectual property rights.
The party seeking indemnity must give prompt notice of the claim, allow the other party to control the defence, and provide reasonable cooperation. No settlement that imposes an obligation on the indemnified party may be made without its consent.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles, and excluding the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.
Before filing anything, email a description of the dispute to support@lazshift.com. Most problems are a misunderstanding about billing or access and are resolved within days. Both parties agree to attempt informal resolution in good faith for 30 days from that notice.
If that does not resolve it, the state and federal courts located in California have exclusive jurisdiction, and both parties consent to venue there. Either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies, and either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect its intellectual property or confidential information.
Any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service must be brought within one year after it accrues, except where a longer period is required by law.
We may update these Terms. For material changes we will update the effective date above and notify Administrators by email or in the app at least 30 days before they take effect, unless a change is required sooner by law or to address a security issue. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect is acceptance of the updated Terms; if you do not accept them, cancel before the effective date. Changes are not retroactive and do not apply to a dispute that arose before they took effect.
Questions about these Terms, or notice of a dispute, go to support@lazshift.com. We will provide a mailing address for formal notices on request.
